Stephanie is a Choreographer, Dancer, Teacher, Solo Dance Artist and Founder of N-root Danceart. She lives and works in NJ and has been working in the field since 1997. Miss Stephanie is drawn to creating dance works that challenger own status quo. Exploring her creativity through inquiry, she privileges the process of dance-making. She is a recipient of a 2017 Individual Artist Fellowship from New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the 2017/18 Jersey (new) Moves Emerging Choreographers Fellowship. In NJ Stephanie has shown her work through various venues and opportunities including Freespace Dance Company’s “A New Woman’s Movement”, 40+ Showcase (Montclair), the County College of Morris (Randolph), the American College Dance Association Northeast conference, Your move: NJ’s Modern Dance Festival (Hoboken), Centenary University’s Lackland Theatre (Hackettstown), Bailar al Sol Dance Festival (Asbury Park), NJ Performing Arts Center (Newark), and the Crossroads Theatre (New Brunswick) through a choreographic residency with coLAB Arts. She holds an MFA in Dance from Sarah Lawrence College and a BA in Dancer Performance from Point Park University. Over the past 20 years she has worked in a variety of performance settings from traditional theatres to elementary school cafeterias, from Hollywood movie sets to public parks. She’s danced with companies such as Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre (LA), Donna Sternberg & Dancers (Santa Monica) and toured regionally for five years with the award winning, West Virginia Dance Company. She has also had the sincere pleasure of working & studying with choreographers such as Molissa Feenley, Naomi Goldberg Haas, Carli Marineck, Jodi Melnick, Donna Scro and Gwen Welliver.
